In-Office Foot and Ankle X-Rays in Westchester, NY
Why X-rays matter for foot problems
The foot has 26 bones, and many foot problems start with them. An X-ray shows the bones and joints clearly, so it can confirm or rule out a fracture, show arthritis or a bone spur, and reveal how the bones of your foot are lined up.
What an X-ray can show

- Fractures and broken bones
- Arthritis and joint damage
- Bone spurs, including heel spurs
- How the bones are aligned, as with bunions and flat feet
- Signs of infection in the bone
- Some foreign objects, such as metal or glass
What to expect
- The X-ray takes only a few minutes
- It is painless
- Several views are usually taken from different angles
- You may be asked to stand, to show how your foot lines up under your weight
- Tell us beforehand if you are or might be pregnant
Because the X-ray is taken in the office, Dr. Marzano can review the images with you during the same visit.
From X-ray to treatment plan
An X-ray is often the first step after an injury, when a fracture is suspected, or when a joint hurts. Seeing the bones helps Dr. Marzano choose the right treatment, whether that means protecting a fracture, managing arthritis, or addressing an alignment problem.
X-rays show bone best. For soft tissue such as the plantar fascia, tendons and ligaments, Dr. Marzano may use in-office diagnostic ultrasound. Some early stress fractures do not show up on a first X-ray and may need follow-up imaging.
